How We Measure Jeans
When you're hunting for the perfect pair of jeans or pants, knowing how to measure them is key—especially for online shopping. Take your best-fitting pair of pants and use the steps below to measure them.
Waist:
1. Button up the jeans.
2. Lay them flat, making sure the top front edge of the waistband lines up with the top back edge. Pull them tight.
3. Measure from one edge of the waistband to the other.
4. Multiply that measurement by two.
Thigh:
1. Lay the jeans flat.
2. Place the measuring tape at the outer edge of the crotch seam.
3. Measure straight across to the outer edge of the jeans.
Knee:
1. Lay the jeans flat.
2. Measure 12.5 inches down from the crotch along the inside seam of the leg.
3. At the 12.5 inch mark, measure straight across from one edge of the leg to the other.
Bottom:
1. Lay the jeans flat.
2. Measure straight across from one edge of the leg opening to the other.
Front Rise:
1. Button up the jeans.
2. Lay them flat.
3. Pull the front rise area tight and measure.
4. Measure from the crotch seam up to the top of the waistband.
Back Rise:
1. Button up the jeans.
2. Lay them flat.
3. Pull the back rise area tight and measure.
4. Measure from the crotch seam up to the top of the waistband.
Inseam:
1. Lay the jeans flat with the inseam running down the center of the leg. Press them flat.
2. Measure from the middle of the crotch stitching down the inseam to the bottom of the jeans.
